The Laboratory

The Laboratory of Medieval and Modern Archeology in the Mediterranean (UMR 7298), founded by G. Démians d’Archimbaud in the 1970s, is currently a joint organisation between the University of Aix-Marseille and the CNRS. It gathers thirteen teachers, professors or lecturers including two emeritus, five CNRS researchers including two emeritus, thirteen engineers or technicians.

Our research is interdisciplinary, covering the periods from Late Antiquity to Modern Times (for ceramics up to the contemporary period). our perspectives have recently extended over a wider area from Central Asia to the West Indies.
